Quick review: masterlock 5441d

Bought this, and figured out how I want to use it. Not exactly cheapest, but cool.

- install the app
- register yourself
- register the lock
- obtain code from chastitykey
- enter it in the app.
- make sure the new code *works*, sometimes it takes a bit of time to synchronize.

Now, you can still unlock everything through bluetooth, obviously. Here's the tricky part:
- lock your keys *and your instruction manual with the individual device password* inside the safe
- *disconnect* bluetooth on your phone
- remove the lock from the app

That's it ! there's absolutely no way to unlock it now.

Note that you *have* to disconnect bluetooth *before* removing the lock, otherwise it will reset the code to the default 99100.

Note that I haven't tried this yet, but you could install the app on a second device, register another email address, and then you can get temporary releases (say, set up a guest code that you can use during a short one hour window each evening for clean-up).

Why not just skip the app, and set the code manually on the device, test it, and then forget it...like you would on any non networkable device? I guess this has more features like the guest access or the timed unlocks... That sounds interesting.

Well, it's not designed so that you will recover the code otherwise...  and also the chastikey app has some fun kh bots.

Note that the masterlock app will *also* send you emails with deleted locks particulars, such as the master code.

It saved my butt because I actually made a mistake (deleted a chastikey lock by accident... well, I have a spare key, but I would have had to buy the electronic safe again).

Obviously, I didn't notice the emails, and I went digging through my spam out of desperation, but if you want to really stay locked, you also have to delete those emails!

more feedback: I set it up in combination with chastykey. I have 4 distinct combinations in the device.

- one as a keyholder... Mean Zoe
- a quick one (26h) if things get nasty.
- a slower one (3 days)
- a weekly one

Along with a backup on futureme, in case things go bad with the application.

I discovered that all chastikey locks behave the same, in particular wrt backup keys... So I'm set up so that it's pricey enough that I won't use it in a hurry (but affordable), don't want to go broke.

I'm lucky wrt physical condition, for once, I could manage two nights already... I extended some of the quick locks, and restarted Zoe once already...

Might make a week or more!...
