Version 2.2.3 Beta Released

I've uploaded version 2.2.3 Beta 1 to the Play Store and it should be available within the next hour or so.

• Create multiple fake copies of a variable lock (see help page for more info)
• Back button now exits the app when pressed on the list of locks screen.
• Fixed a bug where the enable key to unlock option wasn't working correctly when loading shared locks.

I've made some small behind the scene improvements too.

Please let me know if you find any problems with it and what you think of the fake locks. Once it looks like it's running ok I'll make it live.

I've found a problem with this version where the alert in the app that shows that locks have been updated can get too large for the screen if a lot of your locks have been updated (which will start to happen now that we have fake locks). If you get an alert that is larger than your screen and the ok button to close the alert isn't in view then please close the app completely and re-open it. The alert shouldn't show again and you should be able to continue with the app as normal.

I've got a fix in place for this for the next version. I've had to limit the number of lock changes shown in that alert to about 7. So if you're keyholder has modified all 20 of your locks you will only see the changes made for the first 6 or 7.

I will have to look at finding another way to display all of the changes at a much later date.

There's no point adding fake locks to fixed locks you create for yourself as they would all end at the same time but do you think it's worth adding to fixed locks that are created to be shared? If the keyholder isn't very active or active at all then you still end up with x amount of copies all ending at the same time because no changes were made to any of them.

For fixed locks you create for yourself I could possibly allow for fake copies to be made if you pick the random durations, i.e. the "Short", "Medium", and "Long" buttons. I'm not sure if anyone actually uses them as I never programmed the app to show in the database which locks were set up with one of those options.

I don't know if I'd like having 11 locks in my list all with a random duration between 1-21 days (the short option) and all with the timer hidden >.< Maybe I would I definitely wouldn't manage the medium or long option like this.

• Fake locks can be created from fixed locks but only if the random options are chosen for number of days/hours locked and no of yellow cards.
• If you purchase and use a key on a fake lock it will unlock, and you get to keep the key to use again. It only disappears once you open a real lock with it.
• If a keyholder creates a lock with the random durations chosen the random options will be applied to each user that loads the lock. For example if you choose the random duration "Short" which is 1-21 days for a daily lock each user that loads it will get a lock created with a random duration between 1-21 days. It's no longer the same duration for each user.
• Added a button to scroll back to the top of the locks list.
• Limited the number of lock updates shown in the alert window when you open the app.
• Fixed a bug where some variable locks were being set up with hidden timer.
• Fixed a bug where some fixed locks were being set up with cumulative chances.

For keyholders that create a lock with random durations this is what it will look like for fixed and variable locks in their list of shared locks

First off, great app, thanks for all the hard work!

After playing around with Beta 2.2.3 v3, I have a question regarding faux locks. For self locking, if I create a variable lock with a number of fakes set to random duration, will all the locks consist of the same random options? For example, a medium approximation setup yielding 10 red cards. Do the fake locks as well as the genuine lock all have 10 red cards as well as (if selected) the same number and type of yellow cards generated? Just thinking it could be an opportunity to add more randomness and unknown duration(s) in the setup screen instead of adding cards in the attempt screen.

If you set up a lock with 10 red cards and say 5 yellow cards then yes all locks will have 10 red cards and 5 yellow cards however the 5 yellow cards will be different in each lock so you have different outcomes there especially if one lock consists mainly of yellows that add cards and another lock consists mainly of yellows that remove cards.

If you want each lock to be truly random  then I'd recommend pressing the short button for the number of days which is 1-21 red cards and each lock that gets created including the fakes will have a random number of reds between 1-21. And because the yellows are based on a percentage of the red cards you will end up with a different number of yellow cards in each too

If people find the short, medium and long bands too wide and can suggest 3 or 4 different bands, and enough people ask for it or agree with the suggestions then I can change them.

You can find these buttons by pressing the random icon next to the sliders.

I'm hoping this is the last beta version for 2.2.3 now.

I've uploaded a new version which should be available soon and these are the latest changes

• You can now restore user id's if they have no active locks or only shared locks attached to them.
• Fixed a bug where some notifications were still queued after deleting locks.
• Scroll speed of locks list improved slightly when you have lots of locks.
• Database syncing improvements. The first time you see the splash screen it might be a bit slow if you've got lots of locks. It won't be as slow the next time.
