Server Migration Plans
« on: November 24, 2018, 10:27:46 AM »
On December 2nd of December at 10AM GMT I will be moving the app to the new server.

In order to do that I will need to turn off the service for a few hours so if you?re creating new locks that need to end during that time then please make sure that they would finish before then.

There is a chance that this could take longer than planned, or problems are encountered where the move would have to be cancelled and put back to another date. If that happens the old server will still exist, so the move will be reversed and the app will continue running on the old server for a little while longer.

The server move will not require an app update, so when the app is moved over you will still be using 2.4.1 or lower where some of the keyholder lock update problems will still exist (i.e. keyholder freeze/unfreeze not always registering). However once the app is running on the new server and everything seems to be ok I will release version 2.4.2 for beta testing where the keyholder lock updates seem to be improved.

Please check Discord or the forum for any new announcements related to the server move before and during the migration

Thanks,
Kevin

So far so good with the server move. All of the relevant domains are pointing to the right place and the required folders for the app have been moved over. My copy of the app is pointing to it all ok (yours wont yet).

The database is empty at the moment. Just downloading the old database now.

The main ChastiKey.com site will be offline after the app has moved over but that won't affect the app. The main priority is the app and the api.

ChastiKey is up and running again now and is on the new server. I did have a bit of trouble getting the databases to match which is why it took longer than expected. If you happened to have opened the app and got the red box at the bottom saying maintenance mode you will need to close the app and re-open. It looks like there's a bug with the app not coming out of maintenance mode once the flag has been changed on the server. I'll get that fixed in the next version.

I?m going to check that the API works shortly.

As mentioned previously you will still encounter sync?ing issues with keyholder updates. I hope to have a new version of the app ready for beta testing within the next week or two where these problems seem to be improved.

Yes, with AWS. There's multiple back ups. Database back ups on the server. Server backups with the hosting company and AWS
