Locking keys and Chastikey

How does ChastiKey work with real locks?  I get that when I find a green key I get a combination, but how does that relate to a real lock? 

Does my KH set the lock?

You put your the key to your cage inside of a lock box or tool box with a lockable hasp and use a luggage style resetable combination lock or a combination key safe.

Reset the combination on the lock to the numbers from the app. The combination numbers will be displayed at the end of the lock session.

So technically you know the code for the lock the entire time?  Or could write it down.

After the app presents you with the code to reset your padlock, a series of numbers are presented on the screen and are audible. Some people select to use a code with more numbers than their lock requires and use every other number to help forget the code.

Personally, I use a "Wordlock" with letters rather than numbers and a chart to convert the numbers from the app to letters. The process seems to work pretty well.

If you have a partner handy, you can also have them complete the process of resetting the combination and you'll never see the combination until you unlock.
